0:03 Greetings, this is Dr. Bill. In this video I want to describe how to import lists into your Zap App. Now the Zap App itself DOES have a bulk import feature in which you can select a CSV file, which is how Dr Bill
0:20 lists are formatted, into the Zap App. And then you can map the fields in the spreadsheet to the fields that are in the Zap App.
0:31 But a much easier way to import your data into the Zap App in order to manage your campaigns is through the Zap Contact website and the "Imported Lists" section of your Account Dashboard.
0:46 How lists get imported depends upon which plan you've subscribed to. If you've subscribed to the Trial Plan, then you can only import free sample lists.
0:57 If you've subscribed to the Customer Plan, then you can import any list that you've purchased. In this case, the demo account is subscribed to the Trial Plan.
1:10 So when I click on the Import List button in the bottom section of the Dashboard, I will see two sample lists identified:
1:20 The Real Estate Agents, Coconino County, Arizona free sample list, and the Essex County, Massachusetts Physician sample list. Now you can request sample lists in every category.
1:36 In addition to Real Estate Agents and Physicians, you could request Dentists, and a number of business sample lists.
1:45 And you can import one sample list from each of those categories. When it comes to free samples, 500 randomly selected contacts from each list will be imported into the Zap App.
2:00 You can select a sample list by simply checking the box next to the list that you want to import into the Zap App, pushing the Import Selected List button, and those two lists will be added to the queue.
2:17 There is a background process in Zap Contact that checks the queue periodically and if it finds lists that have been added, then in the background it will add 500 contacts from each list to your Zap App.
2:38 Now let's consider what happens if the plan that you have subscribed to is the Customer Plan. I've modified the status of this particular demonstration account to be the Customer Plan.
2:54 By the way, if you look at the Imported List section of the Dashboard, you will see that there are two lists that are "pending."
3:01 These are the two free sample lists that we added to the queue earlier. Once the background process runs and imports the data in those two lists into the Zap App, the imported date will take the place of the pending status.
3:17 For now, since I am in the Customer Plan, I'll click the import button you will see a list
3:24 of purchased databases that the demo account has acquired. In practice, no customer is going to have purchased this selection of lists.
3:37 The majority of customers are going to select one or two lists, generally in the same list category. Real estate agents or physicians or a particular business
3:47 in order to evaluate import process. I've added a number of different categories of lists to this particular account. There is one condition that applies when importing purchased lists:
4:02 the number of contacts in the list must be less than 100,000. The Zap App background process cannot import more than 100,000 records at a time.
4:16 The only databases that this will apply to are the national lists for both real estate agents and physicians and several of the business lists and the California, Texas and Florida real estate agent lists.
4:31 They also have over 100,000 contacts and those those databases will have to be imported manually through the bulk import feature in the Zap App.
4:40 But most lists are going to be under 100,000 records. And if that's the case, you can use this import feature in the Zap Contact website to
4:51 import contacts. So I've checked all the boxes next to the various databases that this demo account has purchased and then I pressed the Import Selected List
5:05 button at the bottom. And you get a response that all of the databases have successfully been queued, placed into to the table that the background process periodically checks, and if it finds the database added to that queue, then it will add all of the contacts
5:25 in that list to this customer's Zap App. If I go back to the dashboard, I will see in the imported list section all of the purchases list as well as the two sample lists at the bottom all in a pending state waiting for that background process to import the data.
5:45 To illustrate what happens after an imported list is successfully imported into the Zap App, I will refresh the dashboard.
6:13 And you can see that the two free sample lists that were imported earlier and added to the queue have been successfully imported and they're date stamped with the date
6:27 that the import succeeded. The purchased lists have yet to be imported. But when the background process finishes on those databases, they will likewise have their pending status changed
6:42 to the import date. So as you can see the process for importing your purchased list or free sample list into the Zap App is made very simple through the Zap Contact website.
6:55 You do not have to use the bulk import feature in the App in order to do this. In the next video I will discuss further how to manage your contacts as we explore the Zap App itself.
